How to Manage Type II Diabetes

BY MAX CUNEO

National Diabetes Week

Type II Diabetes is a progressive condition in which the body becomes resistant to the normal effects of insulin and/or gradually loses the capacity to produce enough insulin in the pancreas. We do not know what causes Type II Diabetes but it is associated with modifiable lifestyle risk factors and also has strong genetic and family related risk factors.

While there is currently no cure for Type II Diabetes, the condition can be managed through lifestyle modifications and medication. Type II Diabetes is progressive and needs to be managed effectively to prevent complications.

Choosing healthy foods and being active will help you manage your blood glucose levels and your body weight.
