You may have noticed on television sporting personalities that they have all different coloured tape over their bodies, and are wondering what is the benefits of RockTape to their performance.
It is called RockTape and is a new revolutionary type of therapeutic kinesiology taping that helps relieve; fatigued muscles, help with performance, and is able to allow the person to utilize their full range of motion with the taped joints. These effects of RockTape are not the only things it has been proven to do, there are other ways that kinesiology taping can be used to help the everyday person function and help their performance. Some of the mechanisms it can also help with are posture and muscle aches and pains as well as helping assist with swelling and bruising.
The Kinesio tape was first created in Japan in 1979 by an Acupuncturist and Chiropractor, Kenzo Kase. He believed that with a flexible tape, it could help stimulate circulation to injured muscles. Its unique elasticity, when applied correctly, causing the skin to become wrinkly and form convolutions. This causes a decompression of the underlying tissue, directly under the skin and has been shown to have an effect on the fluid in the body, mechanical function and neurological improvement.
Some of the conditions that RockTape has been proven to help with are; ankle sprains, Achilles tendonitis, golfers elbow, shin splints, low back pain/disorders, shoulder problems, plantar fasciitis, swelling and bruising, tennis elbow, calf pain, and carpal tunnel syndrome. These are just a few conditions that RockTape can have a positive effect on the body.
Posture
Posture is one of the everyday occurrences that we all get pulled up on. Trying to obtain the correct posture is hard in the everyday life. This is caused by the ever increasing adaptation of technology and always being seated or hunched over, causing the body to adapt to our surrounding environment. The way kinesiology tape can help prevent and help correct alongside other therapies, is by helping reconfigure the way our brain and muscles react to our environment. Sitting down is one of the largest contributors to poor posture, with rounded shoulders, lower back pain and neck/head pain. The application of kinesiology tape in specific areas of posture dysfunction can help correct your patterns.
Plantar fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is a common form of heel pain. It is caused by having flat feet or high arches, wearing non-supporting foot wear, tight Achilles tendons, standing up most of the day and running or walking on hard surfaces. This pain can be treated by wearing supportive shoes, massage and kinesiology taping. The way this helps is by decompressing the plantar fascia and helps reduce the inflammation (swelling) under your foot.
Low back pain
A common cause of low back pain is a strain or sprain of the surrounding muscles of the lumbar region. Kinesiology tape can be utilized to help support and take the strain off the surrounding muscles to help in healing. It can also be used for decompression of the muscles pulling all the connective underlying tissue together to brace and help with taking the load.
General muscle pain and fatigue
General muscle pain and fatigue is a very common issue that everyone throughout their day is affected by or are having trouble over coming. This type of pain and fatigue can be from anything, such as lower limb pain (calf, hamstring, shins and quads), upper limb pain (forearm and bicep/triceps), and chest/abdominal pain. Causes of this can be from over exhaustion whilst doing some sought of exercise. Kinesiology tape uses a longitudinal and a decompression strip over the affected area or area of complaint.
Kinesiology taping used as a therapeutic technique is a very helpful tool for the body and can also be used alongside all conservative treatment options like chiropractic and massage therapy.
