About Chiropractic Care

Whilst the use of manipulation dates back thousands of years with Egyptians, Romans and Chinese all having used manipulation as a treatment strategy, However, Chiropractic, as a profession was founded in 1895 by DD Palmer in North America.

‘Chiropractic’ comes from the Greek word Chiropratikos, meaning “done by hand”.

The early philosophy was that the nervous system controls the body and interferences in this system would lead to dysfunction, causing pain and other health issues.

Modern Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure and function. T

The approach we take at Institute of Sports and Spines is that manipulation can be an effective strategy when indicated. In addition, we use a wide range of other tools and strategies to help you get the best result.

These tools may include; manipulation, soft tissues releases, ART, kinesiology and rigid taping, dry needling, ergonomics and postural advice. In addition, we prescribe and use prehab exercises, rehabilitation exercises, general exercises, gait/running correction, shockwave therapy and bike setups.

Our practitioners are masters at assessing injuries of the neck, back, hip, knee ankle, shoulder, elbow wrist as well as headaches and neurological conditions.

Of course, major accidents and trauma can create problems. But in addition; poor movement patterns, poor posture, slips and falls, or lack of exercise can have an impact on the way your body functions.

Consequently, we look to address and change these factors to help you manage and resolve your complaint.

Often simple changes in daily activities at work and doing exercise are the cause of complaints that present to our team.
